Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all other dance styles and is a core requirement at Clarion Center for the Arts. Our emphasis on technique instills discipline and will physically prepare your kid for any genre of dance. Ballet is a regimented class aimed at preparing your child mentally and socially in classroom etiquette while building muscular endurance, strength, and flexibility. Cecchetti is introduced at this age, which is merely an additional ballet class. Students must take 2 years of Cecchetti before they can go on Pointe.

Tap

Tap is a unique style of dance for which special shoes with metal taps on the toes and heels are worn. It is characterized by intricate foot work where the sounds of the feet serve as a percussive instrument working together with the music. This class is important as it will teach your child rhythm and musicality and is unlike any other genre of dance. Your kid will love making sounds with their feet!

Jazz

Jazz covers a broad range of styles and variations of dance. Its development has been mostly in line with popular music over the years. From the flappers of the 1920's to mid-20th century Broadway to today's pop artists, this style has taken on many different forms. After laying the basic foundation for technique, your child will enjoy exploring all kinds of historical and current aspects of the genre. This is most often every student's favorite class and will quickly become your child's favorite, too!

Dance Ages 7 and Up

Our Dance Fundamentals classes consist of a Ballet/Tap combo class and a Jazz/Lyrical class to give beginners an excellent foundation for their dance training. Lyrical

Lyrical is a form of ballet that focuses on portraying the sentiments of a song's lyrics through dance. The movement is technical like ballet, but has more freedom for self-expression. Lyrical fuses elements of jazz with ballet to create movement that is both structured and fluid. Your child will love getting to express emotion and tell a story through dance!

Contemporary

Contemporary is the fastest growing genre of dance in terms of its popularity. Like Lyrical, Contemporary always tells a story, but like Modern, it turns away from the rigid technique of ballet, allowing the movement to be either more fluid or more linear. Your child will enjoy the stories we tell and the messages we try to share through this genre of dance!

Testimonials

For my daughter, life was pretty uneventful since she didn't have many activities to be involved in at a young age. I chose CCA because they offer so much more than just dance for my child's future. I look forward to watching her grow with CCA in years to come!

Heidi M.

Dance Mom

My granddaughter was painfully shy. She would hide in the corner at birthday parties. After starting at CCA, my super shy girl got up on stage in front of big audiences and shook her groove thing! She's learned valuable confidence and social skills at CCA.

Tammy K.

Dance Grandma

My son is not overly athletic. He used to play sports, but kids picked on him because he wasn't the best. He excels at musical theatre and has become more confident in other activities since joining CCA. He started playing baseball again and has improved significantly!

Karena M.

Theatre Mom

Theater has taught my shy, reserved kids how to be self-confident, try new things, how to work together with others, memorization, social interaction skills, and mostly... how to make new and lasting friendships! I can’t imagine life without Junior theater!
